South Cove Nursing Facilities Foundation
South Cove Nursing Facilities Foundation Inc., is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization, which owns and operates South Cove Manor Nursing Home. A small group of local Chinese Americans formed this non profit organization back in 1977 to address the need for a culturally sensitive healthcare option for our elders. Placement in conventional nursing homes where the language, diet and activities were unfamiliar often produced a sense of alienation, leading to depression in many elderly Chinese patients. Imagine suddenly being ill, and ending up in a place where you don't speak the language, don't like the food, and don't understand the customs. It certainly was not conducive to healing.
It took eight years - of weekly meetings, planning, community relations, government relations, and great vision - to create South Cove Manor - a first rate nursing home dedicated primarily to the needs of our Chinese-Asian elders.
As we have grown and prospered, we have expanded our mission beyond nursing care to become a community resource for families, local residents and service organizations within the New England region by providing bilingual health care services, programs, and housing for seniors. We look forward with confidence to our future, knowing that we will maintain the high standard we have set for our nursing home. We thank our founders and donors, who have helped out along the way.
Tax deductible contributions are most welcomed - Please make check payable to: South Cove Nursing Facilities Foundation, and send to: Richard Wong, Managing Director, 120 Shawmut Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
