- Access to bilingual education materials covering the full spectrum of health care options, including resources on home care, congregate care, assisted living and skilled nursing care.
- Resources to learn about funding for healthcare and to keep up with important changes which affect you and your family.
- Computers with access to the internet.
- Books, periodicals, reference guides and other printed materials.
- Educational seminars and programs, including our Breakfast Seminar Series
- Annual Elder Awareness Information Fair
George A. Schlichte was a founding member of South Cove Manor. His dedication to building a nursing home for the Chinatown community and his devotion to life-long learning make this learning center a fitting memorial to George.
All of our residents and their families are encouraged to use our new Learning Center, and we welcome everyone from the community to take advantage of this comprehensive educational resource.
For the South Cove Manor staff, the Schlichte Learning Center will provide opportunities for professional growth through on-going Continuing Education programs and workshops. Each year scholarships are made available to employees persuing advanced education or training in the health care field.
The Learning Center's breakfast seminars are programs designed to educate Chinese elederly on the resources and services of the community. Community service providers discuss various eldercare and health topics. Seminars are presented in Cantonese and Mandarin. A wonderful oppertunity for community organizations and seniors to socialize and network in a relaxed and informal setting. All are welcomed to attend the seminars FREE of charge. Food and refreshments are provided.
