President & CEO
Kathryn Plazak is serving as Interim CEO of South Cove after working with the organization for several years as a consultant. She is an experienced executive, with a 20+ year career in the corporate sector and 10+ years providing management services to a variety of nonprofit organizations. Kathy has an MBA from Boston University and serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations, including the Institute for Nonprofit Practice and Boston After School and Beyond.
Li Chen recently celebrated her 20th anniversary at South Cove, serving as a staff nurse, staff Development Coordinator, and Director of Nursing before earning licensure as a nursing home administrator in 2006 and assuming her current position. Li holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Beijing Nursing School and completed a Business Administration program at Ocean Business School. Li is an elected Board member of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association, and an appointed member of the Massachusetts Culture Change Coalition, and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Chinese American Nurses Association of New England.
Director of Finance
Scott Hanson has over 30 years of experience in the finance field, including over 12 years in nursing center finance, operations, accounting management and financial analysis. He joined the South Cove team at the end of 2013, having served as the Controller and Administrative Operations Manager for Starr Health Group. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Salem State University.
Director of Nursing
Ruolan Zhao joined the South Cove nursing team in 1999, and after working as a registered nurse for seven years was promoted to nursing supervisor in 2007, and to Director of Nursing in February 2014. Ruolan studied nursing at Nanchang Nursing School in China, and worked at a local medical unit before traveling to Amman, Jordan, where she was posted at Al-Bashir Hospital CCU, Jordan University Hospital ICU, and Al-Khalidi Hospital Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory.
Director of Human Services
Margie Ransom joined South Cove in February 2016, has over 25 years of executive experience aligning staff resources with business needs. Utilizing a unique combination of strategic organizational development expertise and hands-on experience, Margie's focus is to deliver excellent day-to-day human resource services with measurable outcomes, and enjoys merging organizations and cultures within an HR best practices framework.
Director of Quality Assurance
Doris Stetson joined South Cove in March 2017, has spent the last 30 + years working as an Independent Consultant for health care facilities and hospitals, specializing in rehabilitation and long term care. She served as Regional Manager for Milestone HealthCare managing hospital Quality Assurance & Compliance Programs and as Principle/Senior consultant for Landa & Altsher accounting firms overseeing regulations for multiple healthcare organizations. Doris’ expertise and knowledge of healthcare regulations have launched South Cove Manor to exceed quality expectations across the profession.
